That’s the news most of you have been waiting for one year now: Iran tourist visas will soon be granted again! The Deputy Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicraft, and Tourism Organization has announced that foreign tourists should be allowed to apply for a visa from the 6th of July 2021.

Vali Teimouri, VP of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and Handicraft of Iran, has announced in an interview to ISNA, an Iranian news agency, that authorities are working on a protocol to allow foreign visitors to enter Iran with a tourist visa.

According to him, it should be possible to apply for a tourist visa to Iran from the 6th of July, less than one month after his declaration.

Vali Teimouri has added that this decision had been made possible due to the progress of vaccination in Iran. The vaccination campaign has started recently, despite the difficulties of having access to vaccines due to international sanctions. On July, 5 million people have been vaccinated, in priority health professionals, and people over 70 years old for now.

The conditions to enter Iran will be defined during next month to decide whether tourists must present a simple negative PCR test to enter Iran or if being vaccinated will be necessary.
