Zagros mountain range is the second highest in Iran and presents a natural barrier for Bakhtiari nomads on their seasonal migration between their winter and summer settlements in Khuzestan and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari/Esfahan provinces. Many of the nomads seasonally settle inside the mountains and their tents can be found scattered all around the Poshtkuh area. The area is also famous for some of the most beautiful villages in Iran that nomads from the past decided to permanently settle in. In our 2-day Zagros Nomadic Tour we will show you a little bit of everything in the Poshtkuh area – we will visit nomads and sleep in their tent to witness traditional Bakhtiari way of life, we will visit the museum and Eco center Khouye to see how a group of enthusiasts run a sustainable tourism project of preserving the nomadic tradition and we will hike/drive to pass the waterfall and salt mine to reach the exotic village Sar Agha Seyyed.
