In this experience, we visit a hand-dug rocky village that boasts the reputation of Iran’s most impressive, and strange-looking, rocky village, Meymand.
After meeting your guide, together we will have a 3-hour drive from your accommodation to the village, accompanied by the scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Take note that the houses in Maymand were dug out by the people’s own hands thousands of years ago, for reasons unknown. While the village itself is estimated to be 2 to 3 thousand years old, we have found pottery and rock carvings aging back to the 6th century before Christ, both of which have remained to this day for you to see.
Here, not only do you visit the village’s rocky school, bathhouse, funky looking mosque, and houses, but you will also share a day with its inhabitants, talking with them, helping them with their daily tasks, and observing their unique culture and traditions.
After we have had a warm homemade lunch made from the ingredients unique to this land, we return back to your accommodation.
Best Time to Visit
