While everyone knows Iran’s classics, some of the country’s most fascinating sites are hidden off the tourist track. In this journey we’ll discover Persia’s rich culture through its abandoned castles, crystalline caves, and blood red villages. Along the way we’re going to taste delicious food, live among the locals, and take selfies with some of the grandest historical and architectural monuments of this exotic land.

Trip Itinerary

  • Day 1: Qazvin

    Lush Valleys & Dark Castles

    We begin this natural and cultural expedition by a hike in Alamut valley to reach its famous castle. This is a 4-hour drive from Tehran, but the scenic roads make it a pleasant one. Once we reach the nearest village, we hop off the car and trek our way through the valleys, stopping frequntly so you can capture the dramatic mountains. Once you’re done hiking, we get a ride to Qazvin and spend the night at a comfortable hotel. Transportation: Flight (to Tehran)

  • Day 2: Qazvin

    Colorful Markets & Artsy Religious Sites

    Qazvin is an ancient capital rich in culture, history, and tasty snacks. Walking about the homey town, you’ll find many of the Qajar era artistic monuments and grand mosques standing tall to this day. For a day’s trip, we can visit the following sites: Imamzade Hossein, Aminiha Hosseiniyeh, Caravanserai of Sa'd al-Saltaneh, Qazvin Bazaar.

  • Day 3: Zanjan

    From Blue Domes to Dark Caves

    Attractions in Zanjan range from historical, to architectural, to natural; so no tourist leaves disappointed. With and early start, we have until evening to visit the attractions of your choice. At night, we can have a 3-hour drive to Tabriz and spend the night there. Suggested attractions: Dome of Soltaniyeh, Rakhtshooy Khaneh Edifice, and Saltmen Museum. If you’re looking for a more nature-centered experience, we can also go to the picturesque Katalekhor Cave.

  • Day 4: Tabriz

    History & Antiquity

    Aging back some 4,500 years, Tabriz is one of the major historical capitals of Iran. The historical texture of this city makes it perfect for all sorts of walking tours, and the Armenian heritage left here provide the ultimate bible lessons. Among Tabriz’s many attractions, you should never miss the Bazaar of Tabriz. After that, we may spend some time checking out The Blue Mosque, Tabriz Municipality Palace, Qajar Museum (Amir Nezam House), and El Goli Park (Shahgoli). Alternatively, we can have an hour’s drive toward the rocky and one-of-a-kind Kandovan Village.
